Space Hiring Youth Workers

Space at the Broomhouse Hub are recruiting two part-time Youth Worker positions.

The posts are:

  • Role 1: 3 hours per week (Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.)                                                                       
  • Role 2: 8.5 hours per week (Friday, 3 p.m.-8:30 p.m. & Saturday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.)

The jobs have a salary of  £28,631 (pro-rata, equivalent to £15.29 per hour)


Space is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic youth worker to join our Youth Work team and its expanding projects.

The youth worker will help plan, organise, and deliver a programme of interesting activities during our Friday and Saturday youth clubs, as well as facilitate a safe space for children and young people to engage with a range of opportunities.

Key tasks in this role include:

  • Consult with young people about their programme of activities; Plan, implement and deliver the yearly programme
  • Liaise with the staff team and volunteers at the beginning of each session to ensure the planned content relates directly to the service aims and objectives
    Liaise with the Project Manager before each session regarding local issues/safety or other concerns
  • Keep up to date with issues affecting young people
  • Deliver the weekly programme of creative activities within the Hub
  • Purchasing any materials/equipment/food required for the sessions
  • Keep a register of all attendees
  • Motivate, encourage and support young people to participate fully in the sessions
  • Identify any relevant issues or areas of work that could be developed into new areas of work, feeding back to the Project Manager on an ongoing basis
  • Document and observe sessions, recording information gathered using agreed tools, measures and indicators of success for project monitoring and evaluation of outcomes
  • Participate in debrief with the staff and volunteers after each session to identify the session outcomes, highlight any issues that arose and any new potential areas of work
  • Work as part of the staff team to complete the written evaluation forms after each session
  • Undertake other activities as directed by Line Manager or CEO to support the needs of the organisation
