Beacon Club Day Service

The Beacon Club is an enriching and stimulating daycare service for older people with dementia and those facing social isolation or loneliness run by Space at the Broomhouse Hub.

They work to improve members’ quality of life by connecting them with dedicated staff and nurturing volunteers.

Sessions are limited to 10 people each, ensuring the highest level of care while reducing anxiety about large groups of new people. Refreshments are provided upon arrival, a choice of hot meals at lunchtime, and a blend of activities and outings to suit all preferences. The Club is for people who live in EH11 and EH14 postcodes.

They do ask members to make a small contribution to the costs of running the club.

The service caters for people with mild-to-moderate cognitive impairment, including those who have not yet had an official dementia diagnosis. The social group is ideal for isolated older people who may enjoy one day a week out of the house to spend time with others.

While The Beacon Club is about providing high levels of care for older people, it also serves as carer respite; carers can enjoy several hours to relax, unwind, and manage their affairs, knowing their loved one is in good company.

If you know someone who may benefit from the Beacon Club, please get in touch. Referrals can come from relatives, friends, or professionals; it doesn’t need to be from a GP. You can contact them on 0131 455 7731, 0771 520 8477 or seraph.davidson@spacescot.org
